Password Protect Image encrypts your photos with military-grade AES-256 encryption to keep them secure. Upload any JPG, PNG, or WebP image and protect it with a password - only someone with the correct password can decrypt and view the original image. All encryption happens in your browser for maximum privacy and security.
Upload your image and switch to Encrypt mode. Enter a strong password and confirm it - the password strength indicator helps you create a secure password. Click "Encrypt & Download" to process your image with AES-256-GCM encryption. The tool creates an .encrypted file that can only be opened by re-uploading it to this tool and entering the correct password in Decrypt mode.
This tool uses AES-256-GCM (Advanced Encryption Standard with 256-bit keys), the same encryption standard used by governments and military organizations worldwide. Your password is converted into an encryption key using PBKDF2 with 100,000 iterations, making brute-force attacks computationally infeasible. Each encryption uses a unique random initialization vector (IV) for maximum security.
Use password-protected encryption for sensitive photos like personal documents, ID cards, medical records, or private family photos before storing them in cloud services. Encrypt confidential business images, product designs, or proprietary screenshots before sending via email. Protect wedding photos, intimate photos, or any images containing sensitive information that you need to store securely.
All encryption and decryption happens entirely in your browser using the Web Crypto API - your images and passwords never leave your device. The encrypted file uses a custom format with magic bytes, salt, IV, and encrypted data stored securely. File size increases slightly due to encryption overhead (typically 1-2%). Remember: if you lose your password, the encrypted image cannot be recovered.
