What is Mosaic Effect?

Mosaic Effect transforms photos into stunning mosaic artwork using three advanced pattern algorithms: Grid, Voronoi, and Scatter. Create classic pixelated designs with Grid tiles, organic geometric patterns with Voronoi tessellation, or artistic scattered compositions. Perfect for privacy protection, retro aesthetics, geometric art, or creative photo effects with instant browser-based processing.

Three Mosaic Pattern Types

Grid Pattern creates traditional mosaic tiles with adjustable size, shape (square, circle, hexagon, diamond), and spacing for classic pixelated effects. Voronoi Pattern uses Centroidal Voronoi Tessellation to generate organic, nature-inspired cell structures with smooth antialiased edges and customizable density. Scatter Pattern creates artistic compositions with randomly distributed tiles, adjustable density, size variation, and multiple shape options for unique abstract effects.

How to Create Mosaic Images

Upload your photo and choose between Grid, Voronoi, or Scatter patterns. For Grid: adjust tile size (0.2-20), spacing (0-15), and select from 5 tile shapes. For Voronoi: control cell density (50-1000 points) and spacing with Lloyd's relaxation algorithm for uniform distribution. For Scatter: set tile density (0.2-100), size variation (0-1), and tile size with artistic randomization. Download as PNG, JPEG, or WebP in full resolution.

Advanced Voronoi Tessellation

The Voronoi pattern implements Centroidal Voronoi Tessellation (CVT) using Lloyd's algorithm with 3 relaxation iterations for aesthetically uniform cell distribution. Features spatial partitioning optimization for performance, antialiased edges with 0.5px blur filtering, and adaptive cell spacing. Creates natural-looking mosaic patterns inspired by biological cells, crystals, and organic structures found in nature.

When to Use Each Pattern

Use Grid for retro 8-bit gaming aesthetics, pixel art, privacy censoring, or Minecraft-style effects. Use Voronoi for abstract geometric art, modern design backgrounds, scientific visualization, or organic mosaic textures. Use Scatter for artistic photo effects, impressionist-style compositions, creative social media posts, or unique decorative patterns with controlled randomness and size variation.

High-Quality Mosaic Processing

Export mosaic images at original resolution with precise color averaging and optimized algorithms. Grid uses RGB averaging per tile block, Voronoi samples point colors with full-resolution mapping, and Scatter sorts tiles by size for optimal layering. PNG format maintains exact colors without compression, while JPEG and WebP reduce file size by 40-70% for web use and faster loading.
