Low poly art is a style of digital graphics that uses geometric polygons, typically triangles, to create stylized images with a faceted, crystalline appearance. Originally used in early 3D video games due to hardware limitations, low poly has evolved into a popular aesthetic choice for modern digital art, illustrations, and design projects.
Upload any photo and our algorithm analyzes it using edge detection to identify important features and boundaries. Points are strategically placed along these edges and throughout the image, then connected using Delaunay triangulation to create a mesh of triangles. Each triangle is filled with the average color from that region of the original image, creating the signature low poly look.
The Triangle Count slider controls how many triangles are generated. Lower values (100-500) create a more abstract, heavily stylized look with larger triangles. Higher values (2000-5000) preserve more detail and create smaller, more numerous triangles. Find the balance that works best for your image - portraits often look good around 1000-2000, while landscapes may need more.
Edge Detection controls how aggressively the algorithm places points along detected edges in your image. Higher values concentrate more triangles around edges and details like eyes, lips, and object boundaries. Lower values distribute triangles more evenly across the image. Adjust this to emphasize or de-emphasize specific features in your low poly art.
Low poly images are perfect for modern graphic design, social media posts, YouTube thumbnails, website backgrounds, poster art, and profile pictures. The style works especially well for portraits, animals, landscapes, and geometric subjects. Export your creation as PNG for transparency support, or JPG/WebP for smaller file sizes.
